Ernest Bediako Sampong, Chief Executive Officer of Ernest Chemist’s, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in West Africa, is among the most respected and distinguished entrepreneurs in Ghana. He started his eponymous pharmacy business as a single outlet in 1986, selling imported medical products and has since grown it into a vast enterprise that manufactures, distributes andexports to countries all over the African continent, including Cote d’lvoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Nigeria, in addition to serving the local Ghanaian market.

Mr. Sampong’s first taste of tertiary education as a medical student at the University of Ghana came to an unceremonious end when clashes between students protesting against the government and security force led to a closure of the university.
