Shankly My Story by Bill Shankly - Centenary Edition

September 26, 2013
If you had heard anything, or read anything about Bill Shankly, then you would not be surprised by what was written in his autobiography published in 1976, two years after his retirement from Liverpool Football Club, and just five years before his untimely death.

The book tells his story from his days growing up in a small pit village in Scotland, to representing his country at football, to winning the FA Cup with Preston North End, to meeting his wife, to his days as manager of Liverpool and finally about his life at the time of writing and what had happened after he had retired.

The book is written in a direct style much like the way Bill Shankly used to speak (from what I have seen on footage),and when you read it you can well imagine Bill Shankly sitting in an arm chair, in his front room, in his house in Liverpool, narrating this onto tape for posterity.

This book is a must read if you are a fan of Liverpool Football Club, but is also compelling reading for anybody with an interest in football, no matt
