How To Write A DJ Bio
Putting Pen To Paper
Once you’re clear in your own mind, it's time to get writing. When you’re starting out, you’ll want to keep to around 300 words, or half a side of A4 paper, and would suggest formatting it as below. And as any PR specialist will tell you, it's good to bear in mind the rule of 3 - a writing principle psychologically proven to produce memorable and effective narratives.
1. Intro & Slogan A couple of short sentences that are short and snappy, hitting the reader with who you are and what you do.
It’s really important to pack as much punch in this intro as you can - think: if the reader or promoter were only going to remember one thing from reading the bio, this is it. What makes you unique? Avalon Emerson’s is as short as "Triple Scorpio Supernova," which is not only very memorable, but says all you need to know really - an idea of her interests (a nerdy obsession with astrology), her sound (extraterrestrial, synth-heavy, otherworldly) and a bit of her sense of humour and character.

Bragging With Class: How to Write the Perfect DJ Bio
One of the most uncomfortable things for me when I started getting booked for gigs was when promoters started asking for my “bio”. The first time someone asked me for this, I went into an immediate panic.
Was this something I was supposed to have?
How do I go about bragging about myself? Have I even accomplished enough to warrant a bio?
Do I write it in first person or third person? Is someone else supposed to write it?
At some point I realized I'd been putting this off for years, and hadn't become any more comfortable with handing out a bio. But, it's something promoters ask for.
So, rather than continuing to ignore the problem, I decided to do some research on the subject, and re-visit my own promotional blurb.
In this post, I will teach you what I learned, and we will go through the process of re-writing my bio together.

Thread: DJ biography questions
^for length, it really depends on the dj and how much experience and promotional bits they're trying to include into the bio - 3 paragraphs may be too long for some or just right for others. but yeah you nailed it on the head, couldn't agree more with the K.I.S.S. principle.
a good 3 paragraph format would go something like this:
paragraph one - brief history (birthplace, location, age, influences, relevant early dj/music experiences, first major gigs etc.)
paragraph two - current ( gigs, achievements, discography that you're currently recognized for)
paragraph two - future (shameless promo of current and upcoming projects/achievements)
this guideline could just as well be compressed into fewer paragraphs, but this is generally an appealing and K.I.S.S. approach to the promotional dj bio.
