The Ron Burgundy autobiography is what every die-hard Anchorman fan has been waiting for -- apart from the heavily anticipated sequel, that is. Ron Burgundy, portrayed by Will Ferrell, is a beloved and treasured character and his (fictional) exploits make for some entertaining fodder in this "biography." The coffeebook tome takes readers on a journey through his humble beginnings, perseverance, dedication and subsequent climb the top: being touted as America's "most trusted and beloved television News Anchor."
Burgundy describes a life of beautiful women, knock-out brawls and hobnobbing with the hoi polloi, with plenty of scotch-drinking to boot. The 244-page collection of thrilling, manly adventures might not be serious contender for a Pulitzer Prize (as the publishers would like you to believe), but it's definitely worth a read -- if only for the laughs alone.

1. Satirical Autobiographie Classy news today in the literary world: San Diego’s most famous fictional newscaster, Ron Burgundy—the character played by Will Ferrell in Anchorman—is publishing his first memoir. The appropriately titled book, Let Me Off at the Top!: My Classy Life and Other Musings, will be released by Random House’s Crown Archetype on November 19, a month before the long-awaited Anchorman sequel,Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, opens in theaters. The autobiography will feature never-been-told stories about Burgundy’s childhood and early career as well as anecdotes from his professional and romantic pursuits. In a press release announcing the memoir, Burgundy kindly included his own endorsement of the book. “I don’t know if it’s the greatest autobiography ever written. I cried like a goddamn baby, and you can take that to the bank!” At this time, it is unclear whether Will Ferrell or his Anchorman co-writer, Adam McKay, will be writing the novel themselves “Ron Burgundy” is of course not the actual author of this book – it was penned by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. “Ron Burgundy” is a fictional character, and this publication, his “autobiography”, is part of the marketing and publicity campaign for the movie “Anchorman II: The Legend Continues” which was released in 2013. At 223 pages, the joke flags quite a bit towards the end. However, the depiction of “Burgundy” – his life history, habits, tastes, expressions, attitudes – is surprisingly consistent, detailed and well thought-out, which may have led some people to think he is real. (Yes, there are those.) It has its moments though. I enjoyed the description of the burning coal mine hometown of “Haggleworth” – that was a nice bit of satire thrown in the mix. Checking for anachronisms and inconsistencies in the portrayal of the character was entertaining – and from the looks of it, the authors made these little slips intentionally. For instance, “Burgundy” writes that he was born in 1940, which would make him 73 at the ti
