Gordon L. Rottman

Gordon L Rottman (February 24, 1947) entered the US Army in 1967, volunteered for Special Forces and completed training as a weapons specialist. He served in the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam in 1969-70 and subsequently in airborne infantry, long-range patrol and intelligence assignments until retiring after 26 years. He was a Special Operations Forces scenario writer at the Joint Readiness Training Center for 12 years and is now a freelance writer, living in Texas. He began writing military history books in 1984 and is currently a full-time author. He has written 50 books for Osprey.

Gordon L. Rottman

Gordon L. Rottman (born February 24, 1947) is an American author of mainly non-fiction, military history books.

Rottman joined the United States Army Special Forces in 1967 as a non-commissioned officer. He was initially trained as a weapons specialist and took part in the Vietnam War with the 5th Special Forces Group from 1969 to 1970. In 1974, he transferred to the Texas Army National Guard where he served as an operations sergeant. In 1986 he became a part-time reservist in the United States Army Reserve, where he developed training scenarios. He later continued this activity as a freelancer for the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk.

Rottman has been writing military history books since 1984, initially as a part-time job, mainly for Osprey Publishing. He resides in Texas.[1][2] He has written over 130 books and novels.
