Born Hwang Chansung (Korean: 황찬성), known more popularly known as Chansung (Korean: 찬성, Japanese: チャンソン), is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper and actor. He is the lead rapper, vocalist, and youngest member of the South Korean male group 2PM.

Chansung was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea.

He attended Korean Art High School, graduating around the time of his debut with 2PM.

After participating in Mnet's idol training program Hot Blood Men, he was chosen to debut under 2PM. The group 2PM officially debuted on September 4, 2008, with the mini album Hottest Time of the Day.

2PM is a South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment. The current members are Jun. K (formerly known as Junsu), Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho and Chansung. originally as seven-piece group Jaebeom left the group due to controversies in MySpace in 2009 and left the band and the agency in early 2010.

The history of 2PM started when Korean musician Park Jin-young formed an eleven-member band known as One Day. Eventually the band was split into 2PM and a similar but independent group known as 2AM. 2PM debuted with the song "10 Jeom Manjeome 10 Jeom" ( lit. "10 Points Out of 10 Points"), which showcased their acrobatic dance styles. They achieved their first number 1 single with "Again & Again". Both singles featured on their first studio album, 01:59PM, released in 2009. The band went on to release another Korean album, known as Hands Up, in 2011. Hwang Chan-sung (Korean: 황찬성, born February 11, 1990),[1] also known mononymously as Chansung, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper and actor. He is a member of the Korean boy band 2PM. He made his debut as an actor in the 2006 comedy series Unstoppable High Kick, and since then has gone on to star in the Japanese drama Kaitō Royale (2011) and 7th Grade Civil Servant (2013).

Early life

Hwang was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, where he still resides. As a child, he had no interest in the performing arts and trained in taekwondo and kumdo with the ambition of becoming a taekwondo instructor.[2] In Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education he revealed that he holds a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo.[3][4] He transferred to Korean Arts High School after joining JYP Entertainment and graduated in 2008 alongside Raina of After School and fellow JYP Entertainment trainees Sunye and Jo Kwon.[5]
