Anita Rau Badami
Athabasca University's 2014-15 Writer in Residence, Anita Rau Badami, was funded by the CCA (Canada Council for the Arts) and AFA (Alberta Foundation for the Arts).
Anita Rau Badami is the author of four novels: Tamarind Mem (Penguin, Canada 1996/Knopf, Canada 2001), The Hero’s Walk (Knopf, Canada, 2000), Can You Hear the Nightbird Call? (Knopf, Canada, 2006), and Tell it to the Trees (Knopf Canada, 2011). Her short stories and articles have appeared in national and international periodicals. Anita’s books are critically acclaimed and have been published in several languages across the world. She is the recipient of awards including the Marian Engel Prize, the Regional Commonwealth Award, and the Premio Berto Prize for International Literature. Her books have been nominated for the Orange Prize and the IMPAC Dublin Prize for literature as well.
