Thomas: 'It's about a real, soulful, gutsy sound'

It’s been three, maybe four years, since the Maylee Thomas Band played Wichita Falls, and the band’s singer is raring to go.

The McKinney-based Thomas likens herself to “a windup Energizer bunny that never runs out of batteries,” and she can’t wait to hit the stage running. “It will be nonstop,” she said.

The soul rock band plays at 9 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Iron Horse Pub.

“It will be a very high-energy rocking show, for sure - yeah, definitely,” she said. “People ask me all the time, ‘How do you keep it up?’ I feed off it. It’s just who I am and what I am and it’s what I was born to do and I enjoy it. It just energizes me every time I step on that stage.”

The Maylee Thomas Band formed in 1990, and shortly after starting, found its lead guitarist (and the guy who became Maylee’s husband), George Fuller.

“He first saw me singing in a club on the West End (Dallas) and then tried out for my band,” she said. “We were friends for about six months and then started dating.”

Maylee Thomas-Fuller

Maylee is best known as the lead singer in her band and a co-founder of the Love Life Foundation, a 501(c) (3) helping at-risk women and children. Maylee is also an owner of the Guitar Sanctuary, Sanctuary Music and Events Center, and the Love Life store. Her voice resonates on stage, as a radio host, business owner and beloved First Lady of McKinney. She is the mother of four children and the wife of McKinney Mayor George Fuller.
