Takaharu Tezuka is an architect, president of Tezuka Architects, and a professor at Tokyo City University. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture at Musashi Institute of Technology (1987) and Master of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania (1990). After working in London for Richard Rogers Partnership Ltd., Tezuka established Tezuka Architects in Tokyo with his partner, Yui Tezuka, in 1994.

With spatial designs skilfully integrated with the outside environment, their designs range from private houses to community buildings. Tezuka Architects’ most important works are Roof House, Echigo Matsunoyama Museum of Natural Science, Fuji Kindergarten, Woods of Net, Sora no Mori Clinic, Muku Nursery and Tomioka Chamber of Commerce.

Takaharu Tezuka (手塚 貴晴, Tezuka Takaharu, born 23 February 1964) is a Japanese architect. In 1994, he and his wife Yui Tezuka founded the Tokyo-based firm Tezuka Architects. Projects by Tezuka Architects include the Roof House,[1] Echigo-Matsunoyama Museum of Natural Science,[2] Fuji Kindergarten[3] and Woods of Net. Their recent awards include Japan Institute of Architects Prize (2009), Association for Children's Environment Design Award (2011), OECD/CELE 4th Compendium of Exemplary Educational Facilities (2011) and a Global Award for Sustainable Architecture (2017).[4][5]

Continuity in Architecture: a conversation with Takaharu Tezuka

After a short walk in the soft city lights, blended in the bright atmosphere of the Tokyo sunset, I was received in the meeting room of Tezuka Architects’ office; a big room where library and models of the most famous projects were exhibited just next to the table. Then Takaharu finally arrives.

I immediately start counting the blue objects surrounding him, from his bicycle to his phone, from his socks to the title of his monograph. Takaharu, who always wears the blue colour, is the principal of Tezuka Architects with his wife Yui, who always wears red. They have one daughter, who dresses in yellow, and a son, in green. This particular aspect of their public image aroused my curiosity ever since I attended , for the first time, one of their lectures.
